LAFC played their first preseason match of 2019, taking to the pitch at the University of California, Irvine. Their first opponent, Toronto FC. Coming into this match, the Black and Gold had a 1-0-1 record against the reds, with a 4-2 win last season and a 2-2 tie last preseason.
LAFC came into this match in a 4-3-3 formation with Tyler in goal. In the back we had Harvey, Blackmon, Segura, Beitashour. Midfield: Nguyen, Atuesta, Horta and up front we had Rossi, Vela, Pérez. I could see LAFC using this lineup, except Walker takes over for Tristan (Blackmon) and Ramirez takes over Josh (Perez). But I really like Josh and Tristan almost won the USL with Phoenix last year. Shaft could also get some starts. And don't forget about Latif. Who do you think will start? LAFC took an early lead with a goal from Andre Horta. That followed from a close rebound from Diego Rossi. The first half ended LAFC on top 2-0.
The second half begin with LAFC taking on a new lineup. Tyler stayed in goal, but Amadou Dia, Lamar Batista, Dejan Jaković, Shaft Brewer Jr. took over in the back. Peter-Lee Vassell, Baggio Husidic, Alejandro Guido took the midfield and Kevin Mendoza, Latif Blessing, Ricky Lopez-Espin took up front. Yes, Shaft can play defense. You could see him there too this season. Los Angeles's draft pick, Peter-Lee Vassell, took it from the spot and gave LAFC a 3-0 lead. Late in the game, Drew Moor from Toronto FC put in a cross and the game finished 3-1, LAFC taking their first win of the year.
Who do you think will make LAFCs starting XI this year?
